We've been to Happy Feet for my son 6 months. It's been excellent – they do home visits for us. My son has multiple disabilities and this is the only place I could find that would do a home visit, and they turned out to be the best. The person who came out was amazing, she assessed his needs really quickly – I usually have to take a long time to explain them.

I saw these guys a few weeks ago in Melbourne. It was really good! I have three kids, so it can be a bit hectic sometimes to attend appointments. They have their receptionist play with my other children, though, so I can focus on the child having the appointment. The pedorthist was really friendly, helpful and great with my kids. She knows how to interact with them well, despite them being a bit uncooperative at times. The process itself (with NDIS shoes, equipment funding etc) is quite confusing, but these guys were great in responding to my questions and emails and they helped me to get it all sorted. Really nice.

Your questions, answered

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

To be eligible for the NDIS, individuals must be under the age of 65, be an Australian citizen or hold a permanent visa, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to participate in everyday activities.

Your NDIS plan revolves around your personal life goals and aspirations. It is crafted based on the information you share during your planning session with your Local Area Coordinator (LAC). Within your plan, you will find a breakdown of the various supports required to help you reach your goals, along with the specific funding allocated to each support category.

Your NDIS plan is tailored to your needs and is reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet your changing circumstances and goals.

The NDIS can be difficult to navigate, it's important that you prepare and seek out assistance during your application process.

For more details, see our step by step guide by visting https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/how-apply.

The NDIS requires service providers to register with them to allow for direct invoicing claims for NDIA-managed clients. However, not all providers opt for registration, meaning there could be a suitable unregistered provider out there that can offer you supports. Access to these unregistered providers is only available if you self-manage your funds or have a Plan Manager.
