Shorter NDIS claiming timeframe from 1 December 2026: what you need to know

From 1 December 2026, the time allowed to submit an NDIS claim will reduce from two years to 90 days.
The 90 days are counted from the day the support is provided. Claims submitted outside this timeframe generally cannot be paid unless the NDIA accepts that exceptional circumstances justify the delay.
What this means for plan-managed supports
The deadline applies to when the claim is submitted to the NDIA, rather than when an invoice or reimbursement request is sent to us. That means timing matters. Please send invoices and reimbursement requests through promptly, so there is time to review the information, obtain any necessary approvals and resolve questions before the claim is submitted.
What participants can do
- Send reimbursement requests, receipts and supporting documents as soon as possible after purchasing an item or receiving a support.
- Ask your providers to invoice promptly after delivering supports.
- Respond quickly if we contact you for approval or further information.
What providers can do
- Submit invoices soon after delivering supports.
- Check that invoices include accurate service dates, participant details and support information.
- Respond promptly to any requests for corrections or supporting documents.
Send any outstanding invoices now
Don’t wait until December to send older invoices or receipts. Submitting them now gives us time to address any issues before the shorter claiming timeframe begins.
If you have an outstanding payment or are unsure what to submit, please contact our team. We’re here to help.
